What is Qigong?

Taiji - Qigong

Qigong (Ch’i Kung) literally translates as energy cultivation.

Qigong is movement combined with breath which allows you to explore and expand your own range of suppleness and relaxation. Through this exploration a gradual building of inner strength, Qi (Ch’i), calmness and flexibility can be attained.

There are many kinds of Qigong - health, martial, meditative, moving, static.

Alec offers various set sequences of Qigong as well as many individual exercises which can be tailored to suit your specific needs and ability.

All of the movements gently "stretch" the meridians, opening the joints to allow a free flow of the circulation. When practicing qigong we work to the soft limitations of the body and mind using relaxation, releasing of tension and conscious attention. This way there is no struggle or strain so increased flexibility and inner strength naturally occur.
