About Alec Jones

Music
Alec has had no formal musical training but has played since the age of 14 when he was given his first guitar. Alec's practice of Taijiquan and Qigong over the past
30 years has deeply influenced the flavour of the music he now creates on guitar, bamboo flute and synthesiser.

Taijiquan and Qigong
"Initially my motives for studying Taiji and Qigong were simply to learn how to keep people away. I didn't realise at the time that this attitude would only compound my shyness and fear. It wasn't very long before I discovered these arts weren’t about fighting, but rather how to not-fight; to use the principles to understand how to deal with conflicts both internal and external. I love these arts and to be able share them gives me great pleasure. I am humbled by the people I teach - seeing them discover a principle, understanding what has stopped them from doing a physical movement: often a mental attitude, lack of confidence or co-ordination".
